Home Grown

Welcome to Home Grown Crafting, all about upcycling, reclaiming, revamping and all the other ‘Rs’ you may be able to conjure up!

You’ll mainly find adventures in textiles here, but I also have the occasional foray into paper craft. My only prerequisite is that the majority of materials used have been rescued in some way.
I love to breathe brand new life into things and materials that have been discarded by someone at sometime. For instance, I find turning beloved and special clothes into bags and cushions works really well. This picture shows all the things I made for one lady and her family using shirts that had belonged to a loved one. I made about 15 items in total and each was a memento to remind them of someone special.

Recycling really is my inspiration! Home Grown Crafting is about making something lovely, new and useful out of something old, worn out or out-moded - discarded for whatever reason.
I am dedicated to my crafting and also passionate about reducing needless waste: my making has provided a means to combine the two and create beautiful, contemporary products which are carefully and skilfully constructed with the greatest attention to detail.
For my market stalls I make mainly textile products such as tote bags, retro hand bags, doorstops, draught excluders, cushions, fabric baskets and more. I often use discontinued sample books, sourced from the high end of the interior design market: they are crammed with luxurious fabrics, yet I add an ethical, sustainable edge.

I often participate in craft markets in and around the Sheffield area. You can also shop from the website too, follow this link to the Shop and remember, most thing are 'one offs' so there's only one chance to buy!
